Just another reason why we have such great members in our club who make sure we all have fun while we training hard!

1st Place President’s Photo Challenge:

Name: Gary Rollins

Gary wins the overall prize for this very cute photo of his son with our CJTC magnet. In fact, it was the very first entry into the contest this year.

Prize: Gary receives a 2015 Club Membership and a water bottle filled with a selection of GUs and Chomps.

2nd Place President’s Photo Challenge:

Name: Tom Partyka

Tom wins second place for this spectacular cliff hanger photo from his trip to Zion National Park in Utah.

Prize: A running hat with a water bottle filled with his choice of nuts and earthy crunchy, good for you healthy stuff (yuck!) because he doesn’t eat GUs or Chomps and lastly a Rutgers Unite Coffee mug.

3rd Place President’s Photo Challenge:

Name: Danielle Armus

Danielle wins a prize for the second year in a row with this humorous photo which anyone can’t help but have a good laugh.

Volunteer(s) of the Year Awards:

Name(s): Diane Foley, Susun Kinsey and George Ulasevich

We are very happy to give the volunteer of the year award to three members this year. Diane, Susan and George all contributed to the club in many ways by volunteering their time and energy to keep our events organized and running smoothly. In particular all three made significant contributions to help organize and run the aid station at Ironman 70.3 Princeton this year. We thank them for their efforts and contributions to the club.

Prize: Diane and George both receive a hoodie sweatshirt, t-shirt and a cap while Susan is awarded a 2015 club membership.

Rookie of the Year Award:

Name: Didi Yep

Didi returned to the sport after several years of being away. Even though she was inactive for a while she in fact completed her first Olympic distance this year. Didi led the way for any new members to take on new challenges and stick with the sport.

Prize: A free CJTC Tri Kit Top and Bottom

Spirit Award:

Name: Howard Uniman

Howard received the 2015 Spirit Award for his constant positive attitude, smiling face and his persistent wearing of the CJTC kit to represent the club at all events.

Prize: Howard wins a gift certificate for a free pair of running shoes from The Westfield Running Company.

Lifestyle Mechanics Spin Studio : Thank You

Central Jersey Tri Club would like to thank Margie Berlin and Laura Black of Lifestyle Mechanics Spin Studio for offering up their facility to our members on Monday February 25th for a one time only free triathlon specific spin class led by Coach Thea Skanes.

As an added benefit to the club, LMS is offering up their facility again on Saturday March 3rd at 7am for another spin class lead again by Coach Thea.   To attend this session you need to reserve a spin bike.  A bike may not be available if you do not reserve it in advance.  Members who attended the Monday session should have received a card for one additional free spin class to attend this session.

Hope to see you there!

Good Luck Pocono Ironman 70.3 and Dotties House Tri Competitors

It has been a long summer but September has nearly come and gone already.  The race season is starting to come to a close but there are still a few races left for the year and the Pocono Ironman 70.3 and Dotties House – End of Season Triathlons are at bat for this weekend.  The weather is a bit uncertain over the weekend with Saturday weather showing a 20% chance of rain in Seaside Park, NJ; while Sunday weather is less favorable in East Stroudsburg, PA with a 40% chance of rain.  Either way, it will be nice and cool for all the competitors this weekend and we wish you all the best of luck.

Stay tuned and come back for updates on the events from the Pocono Ironman 70.3 this weekend.

Stay hydrated for another racing weekend

Summer has officially rolled in with a series of hot scorching days of humidity and high temperatures.  What better way to celebrate the arrival of summer than to do a Triathlon, Duathlon, Aquabike or just head to the beach for a great weekend on the coast.

Whatever you decide to do, please drink plenty of fluids, wear your sun protection and take plenty of breaks along the way (well, scratch the breaks if you are racing.. of course).

Here are some tips from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to combat the heat on these hot summer days.

On the racing front, several races are taking place this weekend.  Most notably the Philadelphia Insurance Sprint and Olympic Triathlons.  If you get a chance head down that way and enjoy the great festive environment and sports expo taking place over the weekend.  The Sprint takes place on Saturday and the Olympic on Sunday so head on down for a fun racing weekend.

Keep cool everyone!!

Race updates for 6/16 & 6/17

Congratulations to the CJTC hard chargers who participated with ReserveAid in the Patriot Half and those in other races this past weekend.  Quite notably John put his transition skills to work and was ranked 24th out of a field of 595 for his T1 transition time of 1 minute and 28 second and coming in 97th overall.  Fantastic!!  Not far behind was Geoff with placing 23rd of 67 in his division and 150th overall.  Great effort guys!

Not to be out done, the woman put up a strong showing with Jen ranking 11th of 32 in her division. Awesome!!  Jess coming in not far behind ranking 18th of 32 in her division and  Tovah putting in a very strong effort and finishing her very first 70.3; Way to GO!

Then in the Patriot Aqua Bike, we have CJTC President Thea who rocked it finishing 5th out of 22 in her division and ranking 12th overall in a field of 42.

Finally, taking it easy this weekend unlike the Patriot Half crew  at the Long Branch Long Sprint Series, Darren also showed off his swim to bike transitions skills with a T1 time of 1 minute 10 seconds ranking 11th of 101 and then finishing 42nd overall.

What a way to put the CJTC name out there everyone!

Patriot Half and Long Branch results..  Let us know if we are missing anyone.
