HEART and SPIRIT!!!!!

Hello CJTC Members,

What an amazing experience it was to participate in the NJ State Race this weekend with such outstanding members. My dream, when Tim from Westfield Running Company and I got together to start CJTC, was to have a community triathlon club where people could train, race, meet new training partners and socialize together has come true in only two short years!!!

We may not have won the club challenge this weekend at NJ State but we definitely showed the triathlon community what is to have SPIRIT and a love for the sport. Not only did we cheer on all of our club members but we cheered for all the participants. We even cheered for other local clubs in our area even when their own club members did not. I was very proud to be this clubs President this weekend. Thank you!!! CJTC had members of all abilities out on that race course from experienced to first time triathletes and all did amazing!

We have the best members in any club, hands down. A special thank you to all those that help out this weekend from those who brought food and drinks, those who came to cheer and man the tent and a special thanks to those that cooked and went home smelling like a BBQ.

Like I said yesterday, we may not have won the challenge but we have HEART and SPIRIT!!!!!

Now, for my competitive side- LET’S KICK SOME BUTT NEXT YEAR AND WIN US SOME $$$$$

All MY Best,

Thea

NJ State Olympic / Club Competition Update

Hello CJTC Fans, Once again today turned out to be another spectacular day for a triathlon.  The day started out with cool and moist air temperatures which changed later on making it a warm, dry and sunny day, not to mention a water temperature of exactly 78ºF unlike yesterday which was actually 78.5ºF. This meant today’s race was wetsuit legal for all who wanted to wear one.  (Sorry sprint racers..)

As for the race itself, once again we witnessed the true core and spirit that makes up CJTC members, their friends and family members.  We saw some first time Olympic distance triathletes, some valiant efforts fighting through the heat and pain of cramped muscles and pre-existing injuries, in addition to the great support from the tent crew cooking and cheering on all the contests as they passed on the run course.  All we can really say is thank you to all that showed up to support the competitors.

Finally the result of the Club Competition.  Sadly to say, CJTC did not take home the club prize for earning the most points in the challenge.  However it wasn’t for a lack of trying.  Many of our awesome members produced some amazing results and did earn us a share of the remaining points available, but it just wasn’t meant to be.  Yet, surprisingly we have been told directly by the NJ State Race Director, that there will likely be a Spirit Award for the best club spirit.  The award is yet to be determined, but given we have such great members and really make everyone know what a triathlon club is all about, we are very likely to win. So in closing, although we lost the challenge, we still win no matter what.

Congrats to all the race finishers and a big thank you to all the supporters over the entire weekend.

NJ State Sprint / Club Competition Update

Well CJTC Fans, Today turned out to be a fantastic day for a triathlon after all the doom and gloom from the past could of days.  The day started out cool and cloudy but quickly turned into the ideal racing conditions with a water temp of 78ºF for today’s race.  There was an amazing turnout of CJTC members, their families and those just showing up to give support to the club.  We saw some incredible efforts from all the members which included some first time triathletes, the overcoming a flat tire right in transition at the start of the bike segment and the amazing spirit which CJTC was showing compared to other clubs.

As for the Club Competition, starting the day we were in first place based solely on points for club members signed up for the race. Right now CJTC is in Second Place, as there were a few very high finishes from another club.  However all hope isn’t lost as we expect another amazing day of racing tomorrow with even more great finishes from CJTC.

Let’s get all fired up about the Olympic distance tomorrow and take home the remaining points.

Good luck racers!! See you at the finishing line!

We Have Launch!!

In less than twelve hours our CJTC sprint triathlon members will be blazing trails across Mercer County.  If you are competing tomorrow the rest of CJTC will be cheering you on.  Don’t forget to stop by the CJTC tent near the race finish line to cheer on your remaining club members and to celebrate your accomplishments, have something to eat and drink and to show your CJTC spirit!!

Let’s rock it tomorrow!!!

NJ State Check-in : 3pm to 7pm

Don’t forget, athlete check-in at the Mercer County Park – Boathouse/marina for both the Sprint and Olympic distances are Friday afternoon from 3pm to 7pm

For those coming down to NJ State on Friday to pick up there race packets, the board plans to be there by 3pm setting up the tent.  We may leave for a brief period of time but plan to be there for the 6pm race talk.  If you have anything that you were bringing for the club for the weekend, you can leave them at the tent so you don’t have to bring them on Saturday.  We are hoping to set up somewhere over by start of the run path and finish area. We will have one large white tent and a small navy blue tent right next to each other.

For those planning on bringing Gatorade and chips on Sunday, please don’t.  Thanks to our great members, we have more than enough for the weekend.

Let’s have some fun at NJ State this weekend and who knows maybe we will win the Club Challenge and have a great End of Season party with the winnings!!!

Remember to wear you CJTC colors and apparel.  I have the white Cotton t-Shirts for those that asked for them at the June Meeting.  The cost of the t-shirt is $15.00.  Please bring cash or a check made out to Central Jersey Triathlon Club.
