Recovering Slowly…

The electricity, heat, phone service and gas stations are coming back online slowly but surely. If you do not have power back yet, we are sure you will eventually. If any CJTC members need assistance please post a message to our Yahoo Group. We are all hear to help each other so just let us know if there is anything the club can to do help.

Drive carefully and stop at all intersections where lights are not functioning as there have been some crazy drivers out there over the last two days. Lastly, please stay away from any downed power lines.

Please be safe!

Great efforts by everyone and keep up the training for the 2013 triathlon racing season.

Great Club Meeting!

It was great to see everyone for our Club Meeting last night at The Chimney Rock Inn. Doug Clark presented a great talk with lots of insights into off season training, preparing for your next race and what you should and you really should not do in your races.

We are all looking forward to November 14th for our End-Of-Season Party. Make sure you reply to the invitation you receive in the mail to let us know you are attending.

World Ironman Champions are….

The 2012 triathlon season has nearly come to a close with the Ironman World Championships in Kona and with the victors Pete Jacobs and Leanda Cave taking the titles for the year.  Although with the year almost over we are already looking toward the 2013 season to restart our training, rebuild our base and try for an even more successful season next year.  Continue your hard work in the off season as it is where you establish your success for the future and we’ll see you on the road in meantime.

Bucks County Covered Bridges Ride

Greetings CJTC,

Unfortunately we had to cancel the Bucks County Covered Bridges Ride as a club event due to the rain.  Although, it didn’t stop many people who were a little more adventuresome from turning out for the ride despite the potential for rain.  As far as we know, at least one CJTC member did the 50 mile hilly ride.  About an hour into the ride it started to rain lightly which lasted for most of the ride and lightened up toward the very end.  The end result was wet roads, damp conditions and chilly temperatures for the entire ride as we had predicted.  Despite the conditions, it was an enjoyable ride which CJTC may try to arrange for a club only event next year when the seasons are more favorable in addition to the weather (so stayed tuned for info next year for that event).  Other than the weather, the scenery was beautiful, sections of road were very steep and hilly, rest stops were packed with food, snacks and drinks and plenty of volunteer support.  Overall, it was a great ride but would be fantastic in excellent weather conditions.

October 17th Club Meeting : The Chimney Rock Inn in Gillette, NJ

Hello CJTC Members,

We are excited to announce our Wednesday, October 17th, 2012 Club Meeting will be held at the Chimney Rock Inn in Gillette, NJ.  Doug Clark will be our special guest speaker for the evening and will speak about his triathlon experiences and how to handle Off Season Training.

Doug Clark’s Bio:  Hawaii Ironman 2009 Age Group Champion, USAT + Inside Triathlon’s Masters Athlete of the Year for 2009.  USAT Certified Coach Doug Clark is like most athletes, he has a very busy life and wants to maximize his athletic potential in the minimum time possible. In 15 consecutive full triathlon seasons Doug has completed over 130 triathlons, with 44 overall wins, 5 consecutive National Championships, and zero DNFs. He has missed no starts due to either sickness or injury and at 43 still records PR times in all three sports.

An amazing profile!  We should learn a lot from or his insights into the sport and training philosophy.

We are suggesting a $5.00 donation for those who attend to help defer the cost of the food provided.  A cash bar will be available for those who want adult beverages.

See you at the meeting!
