ARTICLE I – Mission Statement
The Central Jersey Tri Club is a community organization that shares information through group training, informational workshops, friendship and fun. This club was established to enable individuals over the age of 14 possessing any skill level and capability to achieve their multisport goals.
ARTICLE II – Club Name
The official name of the organization shall be “Central Jersey Tri Club”.
ARTICLE III – Club Membership
Membership shall be open to any individual who shares in the common purpose of Central Jersey Tri Club.
Membership shall be granted without discrimination upon basis of race, creed, color, religion, age, sex, national origin and physical or mental handicap.
No one under the age of 14 will be granted membership.
Individuals under the age of 18 must have parental waiver.
ARTICLE IV – Club Officers
Four officers, three directors and one alternate director shall comprise the Central Jersey Tri Club Executive Committee.
Terms for all Executive Committee positions will be for the period of one calendar year.
Executive Committee members may serve additional terms only by going through the annual nomination and re-election process.
Terms of office are from January 1 until December 31 of the calendar year.
The offices of the Executive Committee are:
President – responsible for leading the direction, growth and function of the club in conjunction with the other board members, presides over meetings and club activities, participates and has insight into all club committees and can appoint club members to fill board vacancies as the need arises.
Vice President – responsible for assisting the president and providing input into achieving the direction, growth and function of the club, acts as the president in cases of the presidents absence.
Secretary – responsible for keeping accurate minutes at officer’s meetings. Keeps a current roster of club members.
Treasurer – responsible for maintaining an accurate accounting of club finances, ensuring the club maintains a positive cash balance, collects dues, pays debts, and accounts for the club’s finances with a monthly report.
Directors – participate in officer’s meetings, recommending and voting on club’s motions and policies.
Alternate Director – fills in as director to create a quorum to vote on Executive Committee motions in cases where a quorum does not exist.
ARTICLE V – Executive Committee
Executive Committee meetings shall be held on a regular basis in the first half of each month and prior to any club meetings scheduled in the same month.
Dates and times of Executive Committee meetings and agenda items are to be published to the club members either in a club newsletter or announced in the member’s forum prior to the meeting.
Special meetings may be called by the President or seven current club members who petition the Executive Committee in writing.
All Executive Committee meetings are open to the membership.
The Executive Committee can appoint committees as needed for club business or activities.
There must be five Executive Committee members present to have a quorum.
Robert’s Rules of Order will govern all Executive Committee meetings.
ARTICLE VI – Club Meetings
Club meetings shall be held in the first half of the month after an Executive Committee meeting.
The date, time and location of club meetings are to be published in the club newsletter or announced in the member’s forum prior to the meeting.
ARTICLE VII – Club Elections
The President shall establish a nominating committee at the September Executive Committee meeting.
The nominating committee shall consist of one Executive Committee member and one current club member at large.
The nominating committee shall ask for nominations from the floor of the September and October meetings.
The nominating committee shall prepare a slate of officers for presentation and request final nominations from the membership.
Voting and approval by the membership for the finalized nominations shall conclude prior to the November meeting.
The elected slate of officers will be presented to the membership at the November meeting.
ARTICLE VIII – Amendments to the Constitution
Proposed amendments will be recommended by the Executive Committee and shall be posted in the club newsletter or announced in the member’s forum fifteen days prior to membership voting taking place.
Amendments shall be voted on by the club membership either through an online voting forum or at a regular club meeting.
ARTICLE IX – Miscellaneous
This constitution shall comply with applicable state and federal regulations.
